​Before the bar, before the beach, before the first splash of rum met crushed ice, there was a monkey and a mermaid.
Kona Kris wasn’t like other monkeys. Sure, they swung from trees and had a tail that never stayed still—but what they really loved was mixing things. Mango with mint. Rum with spice. A good drink with a better story.
Leslie of the Lagoon was born of the seafoam and shimmer, a mermaid with a pixie cut and a passion for all things sparkly. They collected sunken trinkets, polished shells, and the occasional disco ball lost overboard. But what they loved most was the glow of laughter shared over a well-made drink.
One day, as the tide rolled in warm and lazy, Kona Kris was muddling passionfruit near the lagoon when they heard singing. Leslie of the Lagoon surfaced, curious and radiant, and asked for “something strong with a sparkle.” Kona Kris grinned and poured them their newest invention.
It was love at first sip.
They spent that evening under the stars, clinking glasses and plotting the perfect hideaway: a bar where no one had to grow up, clocks didn’t matter, and glitter was always optional (but encouraged).
And so, tucked between jungle and reef, Monkey and the Mermaid was born.
